The bane of so many people. So, how does one cope?
It is a fact that everyone complains about – we get too many emails.
Get your Inbox to empty:
- If you don’t:
- You will see the same emails with all the guilt of not having responded attached to it…
- You will see the same emails with all the uncertainty of how to handle this email attached to it…
- But if you do:
- You will feel better about email.
- You will actually process your email quicker (be more productive and all that.)
We can actually do something about the too many emails part.
- Send fewer emails
- Send shorter emails
- Don’t CC unnecessary people
- Unsubscribe from newsletters you don’t read. (If you are telling yourself you will get to it, you won’t.)
Other things:
- Use folders – group similar emails together. Easier to find later on, easier to sort out and all that.
- If you are uncertain about what to do with an email, but you don’t want to delete it, move it away from your Inbox to a folder called ‘Hold for a While’. Easy to refer to it, but it doesn’t clutter up your Inbox.
